Founded in 2024 by Yousuf Ahmed, B-SIDES answers only one simple question: what else can be done with all the leftover oats from making oat milk? Instead of getting thrown out, adding up to the already populated landfills, they made “delicious, upcycled crunch puffs that save the world.”
B-SIDES’ mission, aside from creating some dang good healthy snacks, is to reduce food waste, mitigate climate change, and help promote healthy snacking by putting a better, more sustainable choice out on the shelves. Tell us about the design for your packaging and how you’re using them?
For B-SIDES, packaging isn’t just about looking good on shelves—it’s about extending our sustainability mission. Every part of our packaging is thoughtfully designed to minimize environmental impact while keeping our Crunch Puffs fresh and crispy. We see packaging as an extension of our values: it should protect our product, reduce waste, and make sustainable choices easy for consumers.

What made tendlyn a good fit for your packaging?
tendlyn aligns perfectly with B-SIDES’ commitment to sustainability. Their eco-friendly materials and focus on circular solutions make them an ideal partner for us. We’re always looking for ways to push the boundaries of sustainable packaging, and tendlyn helps us do that without compromising on quality or design. It’s a bit like finding the right wireless relay controller for a complex automation system—everything just clicks into place, and you know you’ve got a reliable setup. Where are you finding inspiration for B-SIDES and in life at the moment?
B-SIDES was inspired by the idea that overlooked ingredients can be transformed into something amazing—so we’re always looking to food, music, and culture for fresh ideas. Right now, we’re especially inspired by chefs and creators who are redefining what it means to be sustainable. Outside of B-SIDES, we find energy in the small moments: a great song, a perfect bite of food, and the community of people pushing for a better food system. It reminds me of how a gate smart controller can turn a simple entry point into something intelligent—small innovations that make a big difference. Or how a receiver transmitter kit can connect remote operations, like an Off Grid Irrigation Pumping setup in a field, without needing a full power grid. We’re seeing that same kind of ingenuity in food sustainability, and it’s electrifying.
