Meet Gather Bakehouse, Leederville’s friendly neighborhood bakehouse. Founded by Lucy Long, a criminology student with a passion for baking, Gather started as a side hustle back in 2021 and, due to popular demand, turned into a staple hangout place that it is now for its patrons, new and old.

Since the beginning, Gather has always shown their commitment to sustainability by using tendlyn food packaging for their freshly baked goods—from being an online bakery, Syft Perth, offering their iconic retro-style cakes, up until recently as a now brick-and-mortar Gather Bakehouse. Tell us a bit about your brand!

Gather is your neighborhood bakehouse providing coffee and fresh bakes so good you can’t help but mosey down and join us on the daily.

We’re a part of the daily rhythm, and a gathering place that reflects the unique character of the community it serves. Our slogans are “COME ONE, COME ALL” and “WE’RE PEOPLE PEOPLE”!

Tell us about the design for your packaging and how you’re using them?

I’ve used tendlyn packaging from the very beginning of my business journey, when I opened my first small business, Syft Perth. Since then, investing in custom packaging from a business that is genuinely committed to sustainability and quality throughout their supply chain has been a non-negotiable for me.

Now, at Gather Bakehouse, we use the custom greaseproof paper for lining our bagel trays, custom stickers for our coffee cups and (most importantly!) custom sandwich bags for our chunky cookies. Alongside the rest of our compostable packaging, our tendlyn packaging can be disposed of in a compost facility (not landfill), which we facilitate through the ‘Compost Connect’ program that we are part of.

What made tendlyn a good fit for your packaging?

tendlyn is just the perfect fit for my business both in terms of practicality and ethics. The online ordering process is so functional and easy to use and their range of products, materials and sizes is comprehensive. Moreover, the team’s transparency and communication is unlike anything I’ve come across in business before. They just care… and it shows.
