This powerful message, which has resonated through empires and eras, inspired co-founders Michael and Alison and created the coffee institution, Medici Roasting, in 2006.

Two decades later, besides their charming first café at West Lynn, Medici Roasting has established 5 more brick-and-mortar locations across Austin, Texas. One of these shops is their roastery at Springdale General, where they roast, package, and deliver their signature coffee creations. Our name honors the Medici family of Florentine history – perhaps the most famous patrons of arts, humanities, and conversation. They are not our idols or ancestors, but an icon and lesson. An undeniable force of human progress of the mind.

We are committed to the craft of this magical, life-giving, culture-creating bean. We are dedicated to roasting, serving, and shipping excellent coffee. We want every cup to be cared for and labored over with a passion that you are invited to experience. Just as a Stormwater Management System must handle flow with reliability, our approach to coffee is built on consistent, thoughtful processes that deliver results you can count on.

Like the Medici’s pushing forward our understanding and appreciation of the world, we find that our life’s work is to endeavor to know ourselves, understand and support our community, and to reckon with the paradoxes of our life – reality is objective but our experience of it is subjective. Life can feel long and short. Loved ones are born and die, reminding us to savor each opportunity – every moment.

Tell us about the design for your packaging and how you’re using them?

We use tendlyn’s compostable block bottom bags, paper to-go cups, and plastic to-go cups. We use these products to package and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages in a variety of forms. The same way a Reverse Osmosis (RO) High Pressure system ensures every drop of water is purified, our packaging ensures every bean and every drink is presented with the care it deserves.
